Pack Press is our student journalist team at Davenport High School. We’re responsible for The Homestead, Davenport’s very own yearbook. We’re also in charge of Davenport Promotion and Media. Our main goal is to be The Voice of the Pack. That means: covering Davenport events, from athletics, fine arts, and what’s happening in classrooms daily. Our main focus is covering these events through modern media instead of “classic journalism” (be it articles, etc.), as our Yearbook team works more on the article and write-up side of all of the events from the year.

We’re looking for students interested in:

Photography
Video Production
Graphic Design
Interviewing
Marketing
Sports Broadcasting (statistics, announcing, etc.)

You don’t have to master any of the above areas; you need an interest and willingness to learn!

We’ll provide you with:

Killer projects and videos you’ll be credited for and can add to your “demo reel” or portfolio/professional social media channels (be it a photography Instagram, VSCO, etc.)
Chance to attend Davenport events and see them from a “journalist” perspective
A sense of community and an opportunity to OWN part of Davenport America. Seriously.
Opportunities to network with your fellow Pack Press-ers through social events throughout the year.
Pack Press SWAG (Hats, Tumblers, etc.) for buying in, owning your work, and giving it your all throughout the year!
A discount on The Homestead (Davenport’s Yearbook)

And what we ask from you is:

You provide time and opportunities to help out (especially before or after school, as that’s when most of our events and coverage needs will occur).
You have a willingness to learn and grow.
Attend trainings throughout the year to develop professional skills as needed (this may be done during advisory to allow for adequate attendance).
Professionalism across the board. Pack Press IS fun. Taking photos and getting cool photos/videos/etc., IS fun. But professionalism is paramount. Taking this club more as a business (because we are making money from sponsors, etc.), is key.
A plus to have: reliable transportation. Some events are far. We will have designated Pack Press transportation to events as needed, and in rare cases, you may be able to travel with the sponsoring department (such as athletics, fine arts, etc.)
